Eric enjoys helping you piece together your entire financial puzzle, guiding you toward simple solutions that can make a big impact on your short and long term goals.
Eric’s passion for financial planning grew from his own family’s journey of paying off debt. That experience showed him the impact that thoughtful planning and healthy money habits can have on a family’s future. Today, he enjoys helping clients piece together their entire financial puzzle and find simple solutions that can make a big impact. His goal is for you to leave every meeting feeling confident and assured that you’re on the right path.
Eric joined AO Wealth Advisory in 2015 after working in transportation and marketing. He holds a degree in business management from Simpson College, is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, and serves on the Midland Credit Union Board of Directors and the Urbandale Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, where he is the 2026 Board Chair. He is also a member of Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines.
Outside of work, Eric enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, traveling to new places, and spending time at Okoboji. Over the years, he’s taken on plenty of “side quests,” from road cycling and participating in Break the Cycle’s 200 mile ride from West Des Moines to Okoboji to raise money to fight human trafficking, to running the Des Moines Marathon in 2024. These days, you’ll find him lifting weights, golfing, or enjoying time with family.
Eric is also the author of It’s Your Money, a book he wrote and self-published in 2013. While he admits there’s plenty he would update today, he’s been busy raising kids, earning his CFP® certification, and building a career he’s passionate about.
